About

Getting the best results from French Polishing is my passion. I won't just use a polishing method that is easiest to apply I'll make sure whatever I do, is in the best interest of your furniture or whatever it may be. After all, you may have had the item for several years, it may go back centuries through your family. The last thing you want is a Polisher spoiling its beauty. It is this mentality towards my polish work that has enabled me to consistently deliver outstanding results over the 39 years I've been in the French Polishing industry. Not just working locally in Leeds but across the nation & beyond. Take a look at my Client Portfolio for a snapshot of some of the establishments & polishing projects I've had the privilege to apply my polishing skills to.  I have vast experience working on both domestic & commercial spray & polish projects. From Wood Furniture restoration (I hate to hear of people getting rid of high-quality furniture) to Bar Polish work in public houses. I believe this diversity of spray & Polish projects is what really sets me apart from other Polishers Leeds has to offer. No type of polishing work is too big for me. I've seen & done it all. My Gallery page displays just how well things can look after polishing has been professionally applied.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Pale Shellac French Polish

clear French polish that produces a superb finish to bring out the natural beauty of the grain, ideally suited for lighter colour wood like Ash, Maple or Beech, but it is commonly used as a top coat on dark colour shellac finishes to build up the depth to the finish. Pale Polish is colourless and transparent shellac and is made from the finest quality pale de-waxed shellac and is suitable for the most delicate work and for preserving the colour on inlays and marquetry work.

Button French Polish

High quality, durable French polish commonly applied by brush. Produces a rich, golden brown colour that has a pleasingly warm effect on pale/bleached or new wood.  Button polish is the least refined type of shellac French polish, but it is the most durable and is a traditional favourite.

Lacquer Polish

Lacquer finishes have been used for centuries to give woodwork projects a tough, durable and water-resistant clear finish. Today’s Laqcers are available in both spray & brush on styles, however, both have the advantage of being among the fastest-drying of all woodwork finishes. Acid catalyst lacquers are the preferred finish for most commercial & a many domestic heavy-wearing areas, ie table-tops, doors, bathrooms & kitchens. This method meets the requirements of FIRA standard 6250: 2005 for horizontal surfaces (excluding kitchen worktops) and rated as Severe use. Cellulose paints water-based & acid catalyst paint colours are available in British Standard & RAL and also Farrow & Ball Colour match. Furthermore, I can utilise an exterior water-borne system – especially on Accoya. This will give a beautiful durable finish.
